United Nations Plaza
A Sleek City Apartment
Tasked with reimagining a standard-issue 3-bedroom apartment in one of Manhattan’s newest and tallest luxury buildings, Weddle Gilmore started by reclaiming wasted ceiling height, raising them from 9-and-a-half feet to twelve, and creating the ideal setting for the homeowners’ collection of contemporary art. By playing with the floor plan, they devised a layout that better suited the couple’s needs and lifestyle, combining two bedrooms to create a dramatic master bedroom suite and transforming a third bedroom into a spacious library. With additional space recovered for hidden storage areas, the ultimate effect is both spare and lofty, allowing for complete focus on the art-covered walls and the extraordinary views beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows.
